Dustbowl is many people’s favourite map, and can take place in up to 3 different locations. The defending team starts out holding both the two control points, one near their spawn and one between them and the attackers. The attacking team must take both points before running out of time in order to win the stage, and once they take a point it cannot be reclaimed by the defenders. If the defenders hold out for the given time period they win, the two teams swap roles, and the map starts again from stage one. If the attackers win a stage, they are then set to attack on the next stage and so on until they win the third stage and the map.
The defenders are granted a setup time, the length of which depends on the server, but it’s generally between 30 – 60 seconds. This time must be used efficiently, since the first wave of attackers is the most difficult to hold off, what with it being to most concentrated and almost definitely containing at least one übercharge. The attackers on the other hand should aim to take the first control point, or at least clear it out, with their initial rush to give themselves more time on the more difficult second point.
