Second Australian Christmas

So, anyone read the comic? Seems we'll get new Pyro weapons (maybe even Engineer).

YES, OMG!

For the Engineer, a Righteous Bison that hinders Uber-building and escaping Spies and a wrench that gives you a shortcut to spawn.

For the Pyro, an airblast-less Flamethrower that is basically a portable Kritzkrieg, a crit-farming weapon/fire extinguisher and an axe that counters Medic-Heavy/Soldier combos.

Finally, a new map with new achievements. Looks cool as well!

And Day 2 brings us...three very bizarre melee weapons.

And crate-exclusive items. Just brilliant.

Currently the Steam servers are too busy to even update my TF2 copy. Man, that's a lot of traffic.

Righty-ho.

My favourite weapon so far is the Holiday Punch, that's now my Heavy weapon in every loadout. They are simply amazing.

All the others are just... :|

Really? Cause I think the art-style clashing space weapons are more exciting (SPUF is going nuts about it right now).

The nice crate weapons do have pretty innovative stats, too bad I can't try it out. All I've gotten from drops are Naughty Crates :(

Another update, now focused on gifts. Everyone premium player gets a free Secret Saxton and Spirit of Giving to track your generosity. Nice crate items are droppable and craftable (sucks to be the ones who got it from crates) and maps have lights on ropes.

Ive seen the new flamer in action, and its a bit of a monster. I was sniping at the middle cp on granary when three of our heavies make it onto the point. I sigh in relief, then stare in horror as an Mmmphed pyro with a disciplinary action speedboost comes around a crate and carves through them in a second.

Yeah, the Phlog is pretty devastating. I've seen quite a bunch of people complaining about how it's noobish and promotes W + M1. While I don't own one, I can see some serious disadvantages. There's the lack of airblast, which is the arguably the Pyro's most important tool. Charging up becomes somewhat difficult due to this weakness. Also, even during one-man Kritzcombo mode, the Pyro is still held back by his range, which means that you can easily survive it if you're out of it's range. Slower classes like Heavies do have problems escaping, but I was able to gun down a Phlog Pyro at point blank with the crit buff active as a heavy being healed by a Medic. Sure, Heavy Medic combos are naturally insanely strong, but it shows that the Phlog charge isn't as powerful as most think it to be.

One of the main things about the Phlog is it's an amazing point-clearer; activate your charge and EVERYONE will run away. Including me.
