MW2 to get a subscription fee?

This FPS is called Modern Warfare 2, and it’s about to go from mediocre to unimaginably bad. Yep, it’s going to get a subscription service, and it’s more than likely going to become some terrible MMOFPS. Gamers deserve better than this, and they sure as hell aren’t going to pay money for an FPS subscription. Chances are, they’re going to boycott Activision games forever, and the Call of Duty franchise will sink, and Activision will bleed money out of every orifice.

Yup, its straight from ubercharged.net. MW2 is going to get a subscription fee. As we know, Ubercharged isn't the most acurate source of information, but they seem to have their sources correct. They say it “really satisfy the interests of the customers”, and apparently "audiences are clamoring for it." Ah well, we [you Guys] will just sit in your little corner of you world, receiving constant updates, while MW2 forums start flooding with flamers, and you will all chuckle at those nonbelivers drowning in their own inability to switch to Tf2.

That wasn't just ubercharged or the escapist magazine either. If I recall correctly, Activision revealed that during their E3 presentation. Now if that isn't stupid, I don't know what is.

To be fair though, audiences aren't clamoring for it (far from it) but I doubt the game is going to die just because of a subscription service. It will look like people were clamoring for it after the fact because chances are that a large portion of the community will end up just paying for it with a grumble. Not that I like it (I think that should be the end for the COD series), but I'm afraid that might happen.

Yeah, I agree, its not going to die, but I think its going to follow the path of Counter-Strike. The elites will keep on paying the subscription fee, and continue getting better, so noobs don't stand a chance.

But I know more than one of my friends are going to quit MW2. And then suddenly, a copy of Orange Box may suddenly appear inside their game console.

That pretty much sums up the gaming community's response right now, I just wonder how many will end up paying for it. If they get an 80% subscription rate, they'll have learned that people are willing to pay for that, and will keep doing it.

I think more PC players will pay it though. Xbox users already have to pay $50 a year just to play online. If they add a fee into Xbox, they will be paying $75+ a year to play MW2 online.
