Cheers Pie, it's good to be back, albeit infrequently. New job, second kid on the way, and living at the in-laws while our house is renovated, so not a huge amount of time/opportunity for gaming.
You're right about the retroactive achievements, still, my reasons for wishing for them are mostly that it takes me AGES to get them, and a bunch of Engie related achivements would already be covered (I've got 69 hours as Engie). Still, it feels all the better when I do eventually get the achievements, especially as I don't TRY to get them as I think that's not quite in the spirit of them. I'm there to play the game, and I feel that the acheivements are there to reward people for playing the game well, and with a little flair.
I wonder what sort of achievements are going to be there?
I'm guessing there'll be the easy ones (get level 3 sentry/dispenser/tele up before round starts, get all 4 buildings up to level 3 etc), some middle ones (kills with sentries, dispenser assists, X pts healed in 1 life) and some toughies (hold off ubered heavy medic, dominate with SG etc). I imagine that there'll be a number of really bizarre ones which will take some massive fluke, or perhaps a fair degree of planning, in order to achieve. I'm looking forwards to it.
They've just announced too that they've changed the medals structure, apparently the date was counted from the start of the beta, but is now counted from the date TF2 went live. People who got in on the Beta now get a different medal (Primeval Warrior). I got a gold medal which I'll be keeping, apparently a few people will be getting different medals as they recalculate the time.
Still no further official news on the Engie update.
