Hmm as far as I know and tested, the only things that the sandman hits are the balls that come with the sandman package, and enemy players that are stupid enough to run into your taunt.

The achievement is indeed to pick up a ball that's separated from an enemy scout, picked up and launched back. though pyro's can indeed blow back the ball with compression blast and if done without ball hitting a wall/floor or a player that's too close to you, you can indeed return the stun.
The Sandman won't hit back balls that are flying towards you, I tested that thoroughly and nothing out of a well over 150 balls were returned to sender.

and as for stickies.... Not tried that, and not going to... I do not have a friggin deathwish!
Pipebombs go ''boom'' on impact with an enemy so that'd be a no, and a sticky... well... usually says boom as soon as it's ready to be triggered, the more since a scout will be standing under the sticky rain.
So I don't think you'd have to try, it's impossible for all I know and care... too risky to try (but that's me)

If I find myself online, bored and with a friend online, I might give it a go, who knows what I find out. Will report any spectacular discoveries, but nothing guaranteed.

I dunno about sticky-bomb reflection. But for beanball, an enemy sandman-equipped scout must fire off a ball, then you grab it and stun him with it

The youtube vid is a fake. Me an some of my clan members tested it out a WHILE back and its just not possible. The closest you can get is the sticky bouncing off of your head and hitting the ground a couple feet from you.

Yup, I noticed when I tested it today with a friend, just not possible with stickies.

Then again back to the one who started the topic and his question for tips to play scout, it seems I forgot to mention one before. it's for when your aim isn't gonna work, say... versus another jittery, erratic jumping scout.

Don't aim, just pull the trigger when he moves in front of your crosshair. When you try to aim a moving target and he changes direction chances are you've just moved your crosshair too far making you miss if you fire a shot. keep the crosshair steady and fire when the target runs in front of it. a bit of aiming is ofcourse still needed, but make sure you don't aim past your target.

*my other five cents.

I don't aim, i twitch-shot. I'm making twitch shots about 40% of the time now, my goal with scout is 75%

Veering dangerously offtopic once again, but since the pyros CAN airblast baseballs and enemy scouts CAN'T hit back airborn baseballs, yet they CAN pick up enemy baseballs once they hit the ground, then a game of actual baseball CAN be created, much like the previously mentioned soccer/football games (and basketball, now that I think of it). The rule are as follows:
The batting team all switchs to Airblast pyros, that is, pyros with the original flamethrower. The fielding team all switch to Sandman scouts. The scouts then pick one player to pitch, and everyone else throws their balls away. The pitcher whacks the ball at the at-bat pyro, who tries it's best to blast the ball out of the park. In order to catch the ball, the scouts must get hit by it, therefore getting stunned, and thus catching it, so the pyro is out. If the ball lands foul, the pyro tries again. If the ball lands and is picked up, the pyro rounds the bases while the scouts try to stun him. If the pyro is stunned, he's out. If he makes it to a base, he's safe. If he's stunned on a base, he's still safe. The intelligence spawns on second base, and it gets returned to home for the point. If there is any arguments, and knowing scouts, there will be, a super fast spy (preferrably an admin) backstabs the offending player, and respawn is 1 min. Strikes occur if the pryo misses the blast and gets stunned on the pitch. Balls are any crap pitches. Each round is an inning, play to nine innings. I don't know any way to incorporate the other classes, and if you can, please share.

I actually did a very small version of this in Red Courtyard in 2Fort (4 people total) and it will work
