Where now with the site?

Postby neoviper on Wed Mar 26, 2008 9:59 pm

Haven't seen any admin blog posts, but that doesn't surprise me, you rarely posted there even with the new class guides coming up. So my question is, what do you plan to do with the site now, enhance the guides, add new sections, or something else I haven't thought of.

Tis a good question. I tend to go for the admin blog (if I remember :P) between projects. During them there's not much to say except "it's more done than before", but afterwards it can be what's next.

As for the site... nothing too major as far as I can see (not very far). I really really have to do that Badlands guide - getting a better feel for that map now - and a couple of those misc guides I keep referencing (rocket jumping and sudden death).

Honestly it would be nice if Valve were a little more predictable and told us when Goldrush and the medic stuff was coming - evidently it wasn't December 07. That'll give me a bit of content to parse, but until then I guess it's just filling out the contents.

I would like to do a big custom maps section, but that's quite a stretch even with help on hand. On a different level I mentioned somewhere that I'm planning on upgrading these forums to phpBB3, which doesn't take too long but I need to know what I'm doing so things don't die.

I guess I should be posting this stuff in the admin blog so you don't miss out if you don't click here, so I'll dream something up. Until then, enjoy the knew Jumping Guide, and hopefully you learn something!

Something which could be useful would be new sections on the class guides: How To Defeat. For instance, Demomen place stickybombs everywhere, therefore disperse stickybombs with handy explosives/shotguns/melee weapons. Although a lot of the information would be duplicated elsewhere probably.

Where now indeed. Right now, exams. However a How To Pwn The [Class] section could have possibilities... even if it was a bit shorter than the How To Plays. You could have either a paragraph for each class about what advantages they hold over the class in question, or you could just point out the general weaknesses in the class.

It's a good idea. The thing with the How To Play guides was that they were all written by members of the TF2S community which was good because it's like increasing the article gene pool. This could be another case like that, and naturally if anyone wants to write such a guide I'd happily, nay proudly insert it into the relevant class guide. As for me, I'll think about it after exams
